Orange Shirt Day is on September 30 annually. It began in 2013 when residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad shared how her orange shirt was taken away on her first day at residential school. It is an opportunity to remember the children that didn’t make it home from Indian residential schools, the experience of survivors, and resulting inter-generational trauma.
This day also provides an opportunity to witness, support, and honour the healing journey of survivors and their families.
Please wear your Orange shirt on Sept 26
