Philosophy at Auburn Bay School

Kindergarten marks the beginning of an exciting learning journey for your child. At Auburn Bay School, we celebrate each student as an individual, recognizing their unique strengths, interests, and talents. We are dedicated to creating a safe, caring, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. Through meaningful learning experiences, we foster confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of belonging as students grow both as learners and as members of our school community.

At Auburn Bay School, we believe children learn best when they are actively engaged in meaningful, hands-on experiences and have opportunities to collaborate with others. Our Kindergarten program is designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning while helping students build a strong foundation for future success.

Through play-based learning, students develop early literacy and numeracy skills that support reading, writing, mathematical thinking, and problem-solving. They explore the world around them as young scientists—making observations, asking questions, investigating ideas, and testing their thinking through inquiry and discovery.

Students also grow as active and caring members of their community. Through learning about diverse cultures and perspectives, they develop an understanding of themselves and others while building respect, empathy, and a sense of belonging. Social and emotional learning is woven throughout the Kindergarten experience as children learn to recognize and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, set goals, and make thoughtful decisions.

Creativity flourishes through opportunities to explore the visual arts, music, drama, and movement. Our location, along with our soon to come beautiful outdoor learning space, provides rich opportunities for students to learn from and connect with the natural environment.

Throughout the year, we will celebrate successes, encourage perseverance, listen to stories, solve problems together, and support each child as they develop confidence, independence, and a positive sense of self. We are committed to creating an environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive in their own unique way.
