General Health Measures

In all matters of health, CBE takes direction from Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services. Find out how you can reduce the spread and lessen the impact of illness in school communities.

Routine Immunizations

The CBE supports the AHS school-based immunization program.

If Your Child is Sick

If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please email: auburnbay@cbe.ab.ca or call the office at 403-817-3540.

For more information, please see our attendance page.

Food In School

Auburn Bay School is an “Allergy Aware” school.  This means we are aware of students with allergies or food intolerance and work directly with families when accommodations are needed.

If a child has allergies, or any medical condition, parents are required to complete the Student Health Plan each year.  Additionally, conversations with teachers or office staff may be necessary.

Medical information is shared with all staff.  Staff will make reasonable accommodations for students with allergies or food intolerance.  The school does not ban particular foods from the school.  If you have specific questions about our allergy or food intolerance procedures please contact your child’s teacher for classroom questions and the main office for lunchroom or school-wide concerns.

Children sharing food with each other is discouraged.  Periodically throughout the year there may be food in the school for classroom celebrations etc.  If your child has a food allergy or intolerance please make a plan at the beginning of the year on the best way to address these situations.  This plan must include the information you have taught your child about how to handle situations if food is in the classroom or offered to them.  Please share this plan with your child's teacher.

Lice

There may be times during the school year when we have cases of head lice.

If your child has head lice, please contact the school and let us know. If your child has been exposed to lice at school we will notify you.

As a precaution, we ask all parents to check their child’s head frequently for a few weeks after any exposure. You can find more information on lice from myhealth.alberta.ca.
