October 2026 Monthly Update

Well, we have officially completed our first month of the new school year together! September has been a fabulous month filled with learning, laughter, new experiences, and lots of fun. It has been wonderful to see our students settling into their routines and building connections.

It was great to welcome so many of our families to our Open House! We loved seeing the smiles, hearing the conversations, and having the opportunity to connect as a school community. Thank you to our families and staff for continuing to work together to support our students and make Auburn Bay School such a welcoming and caring place to learn and grow.

A special thank you to our School Council for organizing the Food Trucks for everyone to enjoy. We truly appreciate all that you do to help bring our school community together!

Lunch Supervision

If your child is staying for lunch, please make sure to register for lunch supervision on your My CBE account. The fee will be added mid-October. If needed, applying for a waiver can be done through your MyCBEaccount. There are payment options available.

If you do not register for this service and your child stays for lunch (daily attendance is taken), the fee will be automatically assigned to your account in October.

Halloween (Oct. 30)

On Friday, October 30, students are invited to wear costumes to school, if they choose. Please ensure that the costumes worn still allow for students to participate in school activities such as FAB (recess) and gym time, as well as be safe for moving around the school and safe for other students (eg. inflatable costumes are not to be worn in the school). We ask that any weapon-like or other accessories that are not appropriative for school be left at home and saved for Halloween night. Students are allowed to wear face paint. If a mask is part of a costume, students will be asked to wear it on top of their head for safety reasons.

Classes may be participating in some fun Halloween activities on this day. We are looking forward to a fun Halloween day together!

*Please do not send whole class treats to hand out as we have many students with dietary restrictions and allergies.

Truth and Reconciliation Commitment

We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. Our school, along with all CBE schools, renewed our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation Commitment to Action.

Please see our TRC here: https://auburnbay.cbe.ab.ca/school

Patrols and Safe Crossing

Thank you to everyone for following the safe crossing expectations in the morning and after school.

We are asking that there is NO JAY WALKING in front of the school. Please take the extra few seconds to walk to the corner to cross safely. It is a busy street and we have seen too many close calls when people are crossing this way.

Great News!

The Grade 5 Team has been working hard to get the patrols set up to support the safe crossing of students and families. Students and staff completed the AMA patrol training and have practiced their roles as teams.

You will notice patrols starting at the main crosswalk next week. This is exciting news and we thank everyone in advance for following the patrol rules and expectations when they are crossing.
