Thank you to everyone who was able to join us before the break for conferences. It is always a pleasure to connect and collaborate around student learning and well-being. As we know, working together as a team is essential to supporting success for all students.

We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break! While the weather on our first day back may not have been what we were hoping for, we’re looking forward to the arrival of spring in the days ahead.

Classroom Complexity Team

Auburn Bay School was one of the schools that received a Classroom Complexity Team (Government of Alberta Classroom Complexity Team- CBE Announcment)

We would like to welcome Mrs. Mead who will be joining us for half of the full-time teacher role. Mrs. Frankcomb will be covering the other half (she is currently teaching AM kindergarten, which will remain the same).

At this time, CBE has not given any direction on the filling of the Educational Assistant part of the team.

Dogs on School Property

Our hope is that the weather will be warming up soon! As this happens, we know our furry friends would like to come along for a walk to pick up/drop off at school. We would like to remind our community that according to the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, dogs are not allowed on school grounds, playgrounds and sports fields. This regulation is in place for several reasons.

  1. Children play on the property and dogs, through no fault of their own, can create unsanitary conditions.
  2. Dogs can become overly excited when around children and other dogs which can result in barking and jumping.
  3. Most importantly, some children are fearful of dogs and should not have to face that fear when coming to and from school. Schools provide a safe, welcoming and caring place for ALL students.

The restricted area for dogs includes the entire soccer field, the compound, the grassed areas, playgrounds and all sidewalks that lead to school entrances. We appreciate your support with this.
