Dear Auburn Bay Families,

It is very exciting that the 2023-2024 school year is just around the corner! We hope that everyone had a restful and fun summer spending time with friends and family. To all of our returning students and families, welcome back. To our new students and families, welcome to the Auburn Bay School community.

Staff are working to set up classrooms and getting the school ready for students to return.We are looking forward to next week when our hallways and classrooms to be filled with students' smiles, laughter, energy, and curiosity as this is the heart of Auburn Bay School.

Teachers will be sending out an email by end of day Tuesday, August 29 to welcome their students. Included in that email will bea link to a video that will explain first day procedures and answer many questions that you may have.

Important Whole School Notices and Events

Not Returning to Auburn Bay?

We know that sometimes there is change over the summer and we kindly ask that if you will not be attending Auburn Bay School for this year, please notify the office as soon as possible. You can send an email to: auburnbay@cbe.ab.ca

Who is your child’s Teacher? What do we do on the first day of school?

All registered students (Grades 1-5 and EES) will receive an email from their new teacher by the end of the day onTuesday, August 29th. This email will introduce your child’s new teacher and include first day of school information, including a map on what door your child will enter and exit from. For Kindergarten students you would have received your package in the spring with information about the staggered entry.

Open House

On Thursday, September 7, we will be hosting an open house where students and families can visit teachers and classrooms. It will be from 4:00-6:00pm and there will be food trucks out front for families to purchase food. Thank you to our School Council for organizing the food trucks. We look forward to seeing everyone that night!

School Supplies

All students are required to bring the following supplies:

• Indoor shoes; labelled with name (velcro if you child cannot tie)
• Lunch Kit, for all students who are staying, labelled with name
• Backpack (large enough to carry paper & folders)
• All other supplies (markers, scissors, etc). are purchased by the school using mandatory school fee which will be added to your MyCBE account Oct 16, 2023

Lunch Supervision

Please log into your MyCBE account online and register for lunch supervision. The fee will be added Oct 16, 2023.

Supervision will start on the first day, even if you have not registered. If you decide to have your child go home at lunch and not sign up/pay for supervision, please email the school to let us know. If needed, you can sign up for a waiver on your myCBE account. If your child goes home for lunch, they return at the end of their scheduled lunch time at the bell to go in.

Attendance

If you know that your child will be away or late, it is important to let the office and the teacher know. Please emailyour teacher and the school at auburnbay@cbe.ab.ca.

School Council

Our first School Council meeting will be on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 6:00pm. If you are interested in joining, please come to the front doors of the school at 6:00pm. This is a great opportunity to meet to hear about school updates from administrators and work together to support the school and students. We have a fabulous team and are always looking forward to meeting new people who would like to join. No babysitting is provided.
