We are finally into some Spring-like weather! It is wonderful to see students enjoying time outside, as well as classes engaging in some outdoor learning on the land.

The buzz has started about our exciting spring performance of The Lion King coming up. Rehearsals for lead roles are underway and classes are going to start learning their songs. More information about the performance and ticket sales will be shared later in March.

It takes a team working together to support our students. Thank you, everyone!

Veterans Food Bank

Thank you to students and families who helped to raise funds for the food bank in November. Our school donated 595 pounds in the 2024 food drive. This equates to $2,094.40!  Great Job Auburn Bay School!

School Patrols and Safe Crossing

Our Student Patrol Program is up and running and has been a huge success! We are proud of our students who are demonstrating leadership and professionalism while helping families safely cross after school. Thank you to the staff for organizing and supervising, too!

A reminder that students and adults are not to start crossing until the patrols say “Proceed”. Thanks for your help with this!

Thank you to the parents who are continuing to patrol the crosswalks in the mornings. We appreciate you volunteering your time!

An important reminder that all parent and student crossing should be done at the crosswalks. Our wonderful patrols are there to support the safe crossing. Crossing at the crosswalks also models safety for all students.

U-turns at the crosswalks and in front of the school are illegal. Make sure to avoid making these, as safety for our students is of utmost importance.

Dogs on School Property

We would like to remind our community that according to the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, dogs are not allowed on school grounds, playgrounds and sports fields. This regulation is in place for several reasons.

  • Children play on the property and dogs, through no fault of their own can create unsanitary conditions.
  • Dogs can become overly excited when around children and other dogs which can result in barking and jumping.
  • Perhaps most importantly, some children are fearful of dogs and should not have to face that fear when coming to and from school.

The restricted area for dogs includes the entire soccer field, the compound, the grassed areas, playgrounds and all sidewalks that lead to school entrances. We appreciate your support with this.

School Council

Thank you to our wonderful Council for their continued support. This year so far they have purchased technology, books to support our School Development Plan focus of Reading Comprehension and Belonging, the Artist in Residence who created mask with all students for our Lion King performance, items for the Lion King performance, a science online subscription for teachers to use with students, and much more to support teaching and learning!

Our March School Council meeting is canceled and our next meeting will be April 3, 2025.
