February was a great month with lots of exciting events and learning happening at Auburn Bay School. We would like to thank School Council for supporting Shirley Hill coming to our school to work with students on storytelling and hoop dancing. Students did a wonderful job and the excitement was felt in the building.
Students were engaged in many activities focused on kindness and belonging on Pink Shirt Day. We are so lucky to have such a kind and caring school community.
We hope everyone has a fabulous Spring Break at the end of March!

Will you be staying at Auburn Bay School for the 2024-2025 school year?
If No, please email the school at auburnbay@cbe.ab.ca with your child’s name, and what school they will be attending for 2024-2025 school year. If moving out of area please still specify where.
If your child is a current student at ABS you do NOT need to re-register for next year. They automatically are registered for the next school year at Auburn Bay School.
Grade 5 students will go to Lakeshore School or Nickle School for Grade 6, depending on the lottery. You do not need to register for these schools, as they will automatically be rolled over to their designated school.

Child Care Tax Receipts are now available for Lunch supervision for 2023.
Log into your MyCBE, then select Student Fees & Services Registration

Lunch Supervision
If your child has been staying for lunch and you did not register, the fee has now been added to your MyCBE account. Please log into your MyCBE account and make the payment. If needed, you can pay Debit/Credit in the office.
We have many outstanding Hoodie orders that have not been paid. This was an elective purchase and if you placed an order, please go into your account to pay.
Instructions on how to pay online:
Log into your MyCBE account. Click on the icon on the left-hand side that says “Fees, Waivers & Service Registration.” You can do a full payment, or partial if needed. If you need a Waiver, please apply online on your MyCBE account.
Field Trip Fees
Field Trips are an exciting way to enhance student learning. Trips are booked and paid for by the school months in advance. The cost of the field trip is calculated based on the number of students in the class at the time of the booking. If you need a waiver, please apply for one on your MyCBE account. If you have extenuating circumstances, please contact the office.
Currently Auburn Bay School has $5,039.50 in outstanding School Based fees. This does not include Lunch Supervision fees.
New School Website
All CBE schools have an updated website. We are working through any corrections that are needed. The school calendar is regularly updated, so please make sure to check it. If you’d like, you can link the school website to your phone calendar.
New Process for Volunteering
Parents and guardians are now able to register to volunteer online in the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account.
Members of the community without a child in the system can also create a SchoolEngage account. Once volunteers have created an account they can request and receive their volunteer letter required to obtain their police security clearance.
Schools will continue to follow the process of generating letters. After receiving your letter from the school, Volunteers then visit the CPS online system, electronic Police Information Check (ePIC), to obtain their police check. You will need the CBE volunteer letter to complete this process.
Once volunteers have their clearance document (PIC VS), it can be uploaded and shared directly with the school through the SchoolEngage account. Schools and volunteers can see their application status and if more information is required by the school to complete the process.
City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw
Just a reminder that according to the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, pets are not allowed on school grounds. We understand that all members of our community are responsible pet owners and consider their furry friends to be safe members of the family. However, it is in the best interest of all that we adhere to the above bylaw for the safety of the pet, the owner themselves, and most importantly our students.
According to the bylaw, restricted area for pets includes the entire playing field, the grassed areas on school property and all sidewalks that lead to school entrances. Bylaw does do random stops at schools throughout the year. We appreciate your understanding and following this bylaw.

We would like to thank everyone for your support with leaving the bus lanes open in front of the school. We appreciate everyone using the drop off zone to keep all our students and families safe during drop off and pick up. Thank you!
