Wow! It is already May and only a few more months left of school for the 2024-2025 year.
We are so proud of all of our students and their hard work in preparing for our school-wide performance that is coming up! Staff have been working hard, also, and going above and beyond to provide this experience for students.
We hope everyone has a great May!

School Council and Fundraising Society
We would like to extend a huge thank you to our wonderful School Council and Fundraising Society who have continued to support our school all year. A few examples of what Council/Fundraising Society purchases to support the school, teaching and learning include: reading comprehension books; novel books; Chromebooks, ozobots and other forms of technology; our new sound and
light system; items for The Lion King performance; Generation Genius learning website; Artist in Residence (masks for the performance); Sports Day and year end treats; and buses.
We would also like to thank them for organizing the Casino this year, as well as the many volunteers who worked it. The total that our school received from this is $82 956.03. This is amazing and this money will continue to support students, teaching and learning at Auburn Bay School.
National Volunteer Week
This week is National Volunteer Week and we’d like to acknowledge the many volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to supporting Auburn Bay students and our school. Our volunteers play a vital role in enriching our school community and we couldn’t do it without you. On behalf of our students and staff, we want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU for everything you do!
Hats On! For Mental Health
The week of May 5-9 is Mental Health Week in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association. On Wednesday, May 7, we will participate in "Hats On! For Mental Health Day". We encourage all students and staff to wear a hat to show support and raise awareness for mental health. This important week aligns with our everyday focus on belonging and fostering kindness, and together we continue to make Auburn Bay a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Healthy Hunger
If your child will not be in attendance on the fun snack/lunch day and you wish to pick up the order, please email the school auburnbay@cbe.ab.ca by 10:30 am. It will be kept in the office until this time. If we do not hear about a pick-up, the item will be disposed of or given away.
Safe Crossing
Thank you so much to everyone for using the crosswalks before and after school. We have noticed a huge decrease in the number of people jaywalking in front of the school. This is fabulous and we hope to see this continue! A huge thank you to our wonderful student and parent patrols who are working hard to keep everyone safe!
Bikes and Rollerblades
It is wonderful that the nice weather is allowing for students to start to walking, riding bikes/scooters and rollerblading to school. So awesome to see!
We would like to ask that adults please remind students that once on immediate school property that they need to slow down and walk bikes to the bike racks. Students should also be bringing locks to secure their bikes/scooters to the racks. Students are able to take off and put on their rollerblades inside their assigned doors. Teachers have also shared this information with their students. Thank you in advance for your support with this.
Dogs on School Property
We would like to remind our community
that according to the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, dogs are not allowed on school grounds, playgrounds and sports fields. This regulation is in place for several reasons.
1. Children play on the property and dogs, through no fault of their own can create unsanitary conditions.
2. Dogs can become overly excited when around children and other dogs which can result in barking and jumping.
3. Most importantly, we have some students that are fearful of dogs and should not have to face that fear when coming to and from school.
The restricted area for dogs includes the entire soccer field, the compound, the grassed areas, playgrounds and all sidewalks that lead to school entrances. We appreciate your support with this.
